TUNE: Beatrice Hill’s Three-Hand Reel

AIMS:

In this block of classes, you will learn:

  • The tune and different left hand chord patterns for the traditional English reel Beatrice Hill’s Three-Hand Reel 
  • How to find the key signature and rhythmical structure of a tune by ear
  • How to simplify a melody in order to learn the bare bones ‘trunk tune’
  • How to fill in the gaps on the trunk tune to elaborate and embellish a full melody
  • How to add a simple LH accompaniment to a tune, and vary the chords & rhythm
