Derbyshire Melodeon Weekend 18-19 October 2019

A fantastic weekend of melodeon workshops that’s happening across the weekend 18th-20th October 2019 at The Old Bell Hotel, Derby. The weekend kicks off with a session on Friday night in The Tudor Bar at The Old Bell – atmospheric and a huge fireplace! Join us from 7:30pm.

Derbyshire Melodeon Playgroup (Saturday)

The Saturday sees the 4th Derbyshire Melodeon Playgroup which this year has a new host (me!) and new home in Derby City Centre. Workshops are being lead by myself (absolute beginners), Vicky Cooper (beginners) and Lewis Jones (‘Simple Swedish’ for Improvers). There are loan boxes available on request for anyone who wants to come and have a go! This low cost, informal event is a hit with players who are new to playing in groups and the whole ethos is to break down barriers so that we get to enjoy making music together.

Thinking Outside The Box V (Sunday)

The Sunday sees the 5th Thinking Outside The Box lead by Mel Biggs. This edition will explore how to bring music to life ‘off the page’. Learn how to take simple melodies from sheet music and give them dynamics, scope, breath and interest. It is aimed at good beginners, improvers and more experienced players – great for aspiring Morris musicians! Payment in advance essential to book your place (preparation materials are sent once your payment is received).
